Yesterday, we compiled some data and news regarding Windows 11 somehow messed around with the performance metrics and potential of the AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors in general. And it seems that we are going to receive that update much earlier than expected.

Originally planned for the 24H2 update cycle, Tom’s Hardware apparently received an official response from AMD stating that Microsoft is going to backport that optimization (or bug fix, or enhance, call it however you want) to 23H2, essentially allowing fellow early adopters of Team Red’s latest desktop CPUs to finally unleash the performance promised to them.

Available now within the Windows Update tab under the package name KB5041587, you can find it once you open up the Advanced Options then Optional Updates list.

Publicly known as an unoptimized branch prediction algorithm, AMD also acknowledged that the 23H2 and 24H2 updates should maintain that same level of performance improvement should the user install those versions in due time and test them out again.

However, there are still some discrepancies when it comes to the title selected for benchmarking as the result could be tangible figures and elevated experience from a user perspective down to zero changes but hey, a plus in certain directions is always better than no improvements. I’ll take that any day.
